Our Impact
Health Equity Matters is the national federation for Australia’s leading HIV and LGBTIQA+ organisations. Our impact is felt on multiple levels. Driven by our vision to end HIV transmission, we put our member organisations and our communities at the heart of what we do.

Our Impact
Health Equity Matters' members and affiliates
Our eleven members are the leading HIV and LGBTIQA+ organisations in each state and territory and peak national organisations representing key populations in Australia’s community response to HIV.
Our members are community-controlled organisations created by people most affected by HIV, providing services and programs to these communities they serve. Our member organisations are deeply embedded within their communities, provide a trusted and credible voice to governments and other stakeholders, and deliver direct education, outreach, support and advocacy.
Our founding members established us as the then Australian Federation of AIDS organisations (AFAO) in 1985 to provide national leadership on behalf of communities.
Health Equity Matters also has a range of affiliate member organisations spanning community, research and clinical workforces that share Health Equity Matters’ values and support the work we do.
