Peter is a public servant in Canberra. He has experience in the higher education, not-for-profit and government sectors. He is currently a director on the board of Meridian and is the immediate past President of the Queensland Council for LGBTI Health, both member organisations of Health Equity Matters.

Peter has been an advocate for LGBTIQA+ health and equality for the past decade. He was a director of Australian Marriage Equality during the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey and was the Queensland Coordinator of the Equality Campaign. He has previously served on the management committee of the LGBTI Legal Service, as the LGBT representative on the Inclusive Brisbane Board (an advisory board to the Lord Mayor of Brisbane), and on the board of the Brisbane Pride Festival, including two years as President.
